The expansion of regional division in Indonesia as regulated by UU Otonomi Daerah year 1999 is affected by some aspects, i.e. regional economy, finance, public service, and local government apparatur. This study is concerned with the regional economy of South Tangerang, an independent city in Province, Indonesia which forms part of the Greater Jakarta metropolitan area and was administratively separated from Tangerang Regency on 29 ocotber 2008. The study employs Klassen Typological Analysis, which reveals that South Tangerang contributes a great part to Banten Province, where trade sector, restaurant and hotel sector has become potential sector as indicated by Quadrant III. The agriculture sector has shifted from under-developed sector in 2008 into potential sector in 2011. Other potential sectors such as mining, construction, finance, rental and lease companies should be enhanced to Quadrant i or the fast-growing and developed sectors. To analyze the supporting factors to enhance those potential sectors, an LQ (Location Quotient) analysis needs to be performed to see the city's regional growth.
